Community – “Digital Exploration of Interior Design”

I can’t decide if Subway being so predominantly displayed on Community is a joke or a sponsor. I mean, it’s obviously a sponsor of the show, but Subway was brought into NBC’s Chuck to save the show through financial support. I know that Community was having problems with it being pulled and put on hiatus, but it’s been through back on Thursday nights (a prime slot). That shows faith in the show by the network, so…is Subway a real sponsor or just a gag that they’re overcompensating with?

Jeff (Joel McHale) gets a dose of his hurtful personality when he discovers his locker on campus, which holds a hate letter from a person he ignored. As usual, Jeff has the strongest plot of the episode. With Brita (Gillian Jacobs) dating a personified corporation, or Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) fighting to get her sandwich shop.

The growing feud between Abed (Danny Pudi) and Troy (Donald Glover) is kind of getting interesting, but it’s still based on Abed’s insecurity and mental problems. They do this consistently on the show, putting Abed on display as a person with symptoms of Asperger’s. It does provide needed tension, and I appreciate the wedge being put between the two best friends, but I just wish that they would use another plot device to drive the story.

That was some master whoresmanship. Loved the Subway story but was bored with the forts.
