Community – “Competitive Wine Tasting”
There are few shows on television that just continue to surprise me like Community has. The writers have consistently made me laugh in new and different ways every week. Seriously, what other show can pull off a claymation Christmas special, then a couple weeks later bust out the most epic Dungeons and Dragons battle ever? Go ahead… I’ll wait.
The beauty of Community’s writing really becomes apparent in how they effortlessly jump back to their “normal” format, without compromising the hilarious moments. This week was no exception.
This week the the group is choosing their electives for the spring semester. Jeff and Pierce take wine tasting. Troy and Britta take an acting class from Professor Proffesorson (Kevin Corrigan). Abed takes a class about the TV show Who’s the Boss.
The main thread of this episode center around Jeff and Pierce egos fight for eyes of lust of a luscious, Asian vixen. Their entertaining selfish personalities trump each other throughout the episode. Ultimately, all is set right when Jeff’s conscience comes back (as it always does) and make amends.
Troy triggers Britta’s attention after making up a painful event from his past to fit in with the others in the acting class. This has some unintended consequences that aren’t so bad for Troy.
Finally, Abed further proves his pop culture prowess by putting to shame the world’s foremost expert of the TV show Who’s the Boss.
We’re on the home stretch of the season, I cannot wait to see what they have up their sleeves for us.
